Once
upon a time, there was a very generous man. He was gifted a watermelon that he
didn’t want to eat it alone. He said to his servant: - Go and invite Llukman
Hakim, because I want to eat this watermelon together with him.
After
a short while, Llukman Hakim arrived. He could refuse the invitation, because
that man had done many good things to him and had shown his generosity.
The
man cut the watermelon in pieces and gave it to Llukman Hakim. Llukman Hakim
started to eat the pieces of watermelon. After he ate the first piece, he
continued to eat the second, the third and finished the fourth one with great
pleasure. The man said to himself to eat a piece of watermelon himself. When he
bit it, the watermelon tasted so bitter that he couldn’t continue anymore.
Astonished,
he asked Llukman Hakim:
-
How is possible! You ate all those pieces of watermelon and didn’t say
anything?
The
reply was as such as was suitable to wise Llukman.
-
O generous man! So many good things and generosity I have seen from you that I
felt ashamed to say that the gift you gave me with your hands is bitter.
-
Man shouldn’t be disrespectful, but should be thankful for the good things
given by Allah. He should to rise his head for some small weakness, in that is a
part of test from Him.
